This New Year one of the very first things we can’t not do (at least for me, hope it is for you, too! 🙂 is creating a New Year’s list. Other’s make a New Year’s Resolutions list. And still others make theirs a goals list.
But why create a New Year’s list?
First – creating a list of stuff to do and accomplish in the New Year prods you to become bigger than you were in the previous year.
Second – making a list make you live an intentional life, instead of a “come what may” life.
Thus, the need to plan your New Year to ensure a continuing growth in life. Remaining the same year in and year out is a no no. Creating a list of tasks or goals out of a New Year’s plan therefore ensures that you are going to be moving forward to become a better you from the previous year that you were.
Your plan and your list doesn’t have to be complicated.
Simpler is better. It prevents you from getting overwhelmed (reason why many goals and new year’s resolutions remain undone).
How do you make your list?
Start by brain dumping in a sheet of paper all the things you dream and can dream (some more) of doing, all the things you desire having, and everything you can think of becoming. Ten, twenty or a hundred items -that’s okay.
From that list, select the top four, the ones you want very much for yourself to achieve this year, and then focus all your energies towards achieving those four during the year – one at a time.
Meaning, do the number one item on your list, first. Then when you’ve accomplished that, do the second item. Then the third. And then the last.
How to make your list making, or goal setting, exciting and meaningful?

I love planners. There came a point in my life that I had to stay away from the planners’ shelf of a store I visited, like Staples, or Walmart, because I get tempted to buy one even if I already had and been using one at the beginning of the New Year.
That was how crazy I was with planners.
This New Year, my daughter gifted me with a planner and so I didn’t have to buy one myself.
I want to invite you to join me in the excitement and thrill of planning your life, or mapping out the steps you take towards accomplishing you goals for the year 2017, by using a planner.
Staples has a vast collection of great planners.
If you want more choices for advanced planners, I suggest you get one from Franklin Covey . It will not disappoint you.
Now, get a sheet of paper and a pen.
Start writing all your dreams, wants and desires.
